In the spring of 2026, we revisited Machu Picchu after 20 years. It was fascinating to reconnect with that amazing place after learning so much about Peruvian culture in the intervening years. It is still absolutely stunning .

We also had the opporunity to visit favorite sites in the Urabamba Valley and Cusco. Cusco lies way up there at 11,200 ft, and Machu Picchu is way down at only 8,000 ft.
