In early spring of 2025, we traveled the St. Lawrence Seaway from Toronto to the Atlantic Ocean, stopping in Halifax before we reached New York City. Truth be told, it was a bit too early in the season and we had a lot of cold, wet weather. But the weather in Halifax was spectacular.

We were on the Viking Polaris, and expedition ship, which has a big scientific component. One highlight was launching a weather balloon near the end of our trip, and watching it send back data as it ascended over 7 miles. The lowlight of the trip was a day-late start from Toronto, and a Code Red Norovirus breakout partway through. The Code Red status didn't have that much of an impact, but it freaked people out and the ship felt empty.
