In the fall of 2023, we traveled around west Texas with a very talented group of Texas musicians on a Roots on the Rails trip. We visited Big Bend National Park, El Paso, San Antonio and Austin. There were several concerts (some private), including one at the famed Starlight Theatre in Terlingua.

Before joining the group, we took a little time on our own to visit New Mexico. We stayed overnight in Socorro while visting Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Center. Unfortunately, it was not peak birding time, but the site is always fascinating and sunset rarely disappoints.
