In October of 2016 we visited Jordan - with the goal of finally experiencing Petra. It completely lived up to its reputation, both stunning and relatively empty of tourists.

Another highlight was Wadi Rum, the southern desert area where some of Lawrence of Arabia and The Martian were shot. The big surprise was Jerash, outside of Amman, where an amazing set of Roman ruins sits on the edge of the city.
