In July of 2018, we travelled to the Land of the Midnight Sun - Svalbard, Norway. We sailed on an expedition ship with about 90 other passengers, the Ocean Adventurer. Leaving from the old coal town Longyearbyen, we circumnavigated the Arctic Ocean archipelago, reaching as far north as 81 degrees.

Highlights included 12 polar bear spottings, a blue whale right button-comp-next to our ship, many glaciers and icebergs, along with walrus, puffins, and reindeer. We travelled 11 days without a sunset.

Before heading to Svalbard, we spent a lone day in Oslo, cramming in as much of the city as possible.
