In late winter of 2017 we returned to southern Patagonia - one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

We'd visited before - see the side-by-side photos of Pat visiting the Magellan monument in Punta Arenas (2004 and 2017) - but the landscape is stunning, and we wanted to return to the Beagle Channel. And, a separate trip in 2009 to Torres del Paine National Park made us want to revisit that as well. The weather was sketchy, with many cloudy days, but no significant rain.

There were two major legs to this trip. First, we travelled on the Stella Australis from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia, visiting the Beagle Channel and Tierra del Fuego. Then, we travelled to the luxurious Explora resort in Torres del Paine National Park, hiking and exploring the glaciers of Lago Gray.
